I take a lot of my inspiration from books I read, speakers I listen to and events I attend. I always want to give credit to the resources that inspired me and caused me to want to share what they taught me. Today's message came from the Book Sun Stand Still by Steven Furtick.
Anywhere there is great faith, there is equal opportunity for fear. When we think about God's vision for our life, it is normal and expected that we feel overwhelmed. It is not wrong to feel fear, it is wrong to let that fear have the last word in your life.
The people who accomplish the most astounding things for God's glory aren't the people who feel the least fear, they are usually the ones who deal with the most intense amounts of fear. They just don't let fear disable their dreams, instead they start increasing their capacity for faith. They act on the part of God's direction they DO understand, and they leave the rest up to Him. Don't be afraid, just believe. God is planning to act on your behalf.
I love Steven's quote "Fear is like a telemarketer. The best strategy is to never even pick up the phone."
This caused me to reflect on the opportunities that Mary Kay has provided for me. As I am working my way to the top of the company I am so grateful that the women who have gone before me, my role models and mentors; are not at the top because they don't have fear. They aren't where they are because it was easier for them than it is for everyone else. They have just learned to overcome their fears, instead of letting their fears rob them of their dreams. They have learned to take God as heir business partner, do what they can, so that HE can do what they cannot.
One of the things that I have taken away from growing up in this company, is that it does not matter what your strengths and gifts are, as long as you USE them. I have seen every type of of woman be successful in this company, women with way more obstacles to overcome than most of us will ever experience. If they can do it, there is absolutely no reason you can't face your fears and make your dreams a reality too! Don't be afraid, just believe.
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."
- John 14:27
